Chinese 3 Syllabus


Unit 5 Food of Book 1


Students will read, write relative Chinese characters; they will learn some traditional and common Chinese food; they will order or buy food in Chinese; they will compare Chinese food and American food; Chinese table manners will also be introduced and discussed.

Students will use related vocabulary to describe favorite and dislike food. They will present how to order food in a restaurant and buy food or staff in a grocery or a store. They will compare different food between China and America, healthy and unhealthy food will be discussed. Chinese table manners will also be introduced and discussed.
Students will know how to tell different food. They will talk about their favorite and dislike food and compare healthy and unhealthy food with each other. Students will know typical food of main areas in China, they will compare and discuss the similarities and differences between China and America. Also Chinese table manners will be introduced and discussed.
Student will learn vocabulary needed for food, dishes and several typical types of Chinese restaurant. They will learn how to tell different food, dishes and equivalent measure words. They will ask and answer questions about buying food in a store and ordering dishes in a Chinese restaurant. Also Chinese and western table manners will be discussed.


Unit 6 Body and Health of Book 1


Students will read, write relative Chinese characters; they will tell different body parts; they will simply describe patient's condition; they will talk about exercises and ways to keep healthy; related Chinese culture and customs will also be introduced and be compared with the American's.
Students will use related vocabulary to describe their bodies. Students will use related sentences to simply describe the condition when they were ill. They will talk about different exercises and ways to keep healthy. Students will also talk about their favorite body parts and exercises related Chinese customs will also be introduced and discussed.
Students will know how to tell different body parts and different exercises to keep healthy. They will know how to describe basic illness or pain to a doctor. Students will compare and discuss the similarities and differences about it between China and the US.
Students will learn vocabulary needed for body parts and exercises. They will learn how to describe their illness and pains to a doctor. They will ask and answer questions about exercising. Also Chinese customs will be discussed.

Unit 1 Jack and His Classmates of Book 2


Unit 1 consists of 5 lessons, aiming at helping students to learn to make introductions about themselves or each other under the circumstances of school. The topics involve going to school, courses, the learning tools, and the school environment. The character named Jack comes to a new school and makes friends with Ma Ming, Anne, Li Dalong and Wang Xiaoyu. Diverse activities in class and after class provide Chinese learners authentic life scenarios as well as relevant cultural customs.
Students will be able to express school life such as introductions and transportation, course selection, campus description in Chinese.

The students will know how to make introductions to each other; something about going to school, subjects, learning tools, and school environment; and the activities in class and after class.
