Chinese 2 Syllabus


Unit4”Seasons and Weather”


Students will read, write relative Chinese characters; they will tell different seasons and weather; they will simply describe the four seasons and common weather; they will talk about basic clothing; Chinese customs regarding clothing will also be introduced and be compared with the American’s.

Students will use related vocabulary to describe seasons and weather. They will talk about clothing in different seasons and weather. Students will also talk about their favorite season, weather and clothing. Related Chinese customs will also be introduced and discussed.

Students will know how to talk about seasons, weather and clothing. They will know how to describe related likes and dislikes.Students will know similarities and differences about it between China and the US.

Students will learn vocabulary needed for seasons, weather and clothing. They will learn how to talk about related likes and dislikes. They will ask and answer questions about clothing. Also Chinese customs will be discussed.

Unit5” Colors and Fruits”

Students will read, write relative Chinese characters; they will tell different colors and fruits;they will express colors and fruit preferences with the others; Chinese customs regarding color choices will also be introduced and be compared with the American’s.

Students will use related vocabulary to discuss favorite colors and fruits with each other. They will talk about the preferences of family members, friends and people they know. Related Chinese customs will also be introduced and discussed.
Students will understand which and what specific colors and fruits stand for some certain meaning in China. Students will know similarities and differences about it between China and the US.
Students will learn vocabulary needed for colors and fruits. They will learn how to talk about related likes and dislikes. They will ask and answer questions about colors and fruits. Also Chinese customs will be discussed.


Unit6” School and Friends”

Students will be able to read, write some relative characters in Chinese; could inquiry about somebody's identity; could introduce teachers, classmates, friends(from sports, languages, stationery etc); could use "yes or no" questions and negation; could discuss school life and some social experiences.

Students will use appropriate vocabulary to inquire others' identity and introduce different people(from sports, languages, stationery etc). And students will discuss school life and some social experiences.

Students will understand that similarities and differences exist among cultures, certainly in languages.


Students will learn vocabulary needed for somebody's identity, sports,some main languages, basic stationery. They will learn how to introduce others through some specific aspects. They will learn verb-object phrases and measure words. Students will learn how to make negative sentences and ask and answer "yes or no" questions. Also Chinese culture and customs will be discussed.

Unit7 “ Family and Career”Students will read, write relative Chinese characters; they can introduce family members and explain relationships between people; they can simply describe their likes, dislikes and careers.

Students can use the appellations for family members and relatives. They can explain relationships between people and make simple comments on relationships between people. Students could tell the others about their family roots and living address. Students can require others' jobs and can answer the questions about people's job with different sentence patterns.

Students will introduce different family members to the others.Students will talk about their family members' hobbies, pets and their jobs. Student will know similarities and differences about it between China and the US.

Students will learn vocabulary needed for family relationships, pets and jobs. They will lean how to talk about others' pets, home address, jobs and family. Also Chinese customs will be discussed.
